Platform Weeffouten is a collaboration between Natuur en Milieufederatie Noord Holland, Transparency International Nederland, Corporate Europe Observatory and Fair Resource Foundation. On Tuesday 15 October, Platform Weeffouten<\/strong>\u00a0was officially launched during the symposium ‘Together towards environmental policy that works!’<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 100 people gathered to discuss the flaws in our environmental policy and to search for solutions together.\u00a0Jozias van Aartsen<\/em>\u00a0spoke passionately about his report ‘Om te Leefomgeving’; his contribution was followed by a panel discussion with\u00a0Magdeleen Sturm<\/em>\u00a0(ex-IBP VTH),\u00a0Roelof Bosma<\/em>\u00a0(Zembla) and\u00a0Antoinette Verbrugge<\/em>\u00a0(Gezondheid op 1), sharply guided by chair\u00a0Vera Dalm<\/em>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

During the main program and the subsequent sub-sessions on Tata Steel (with\u00a0Anne Albers<\/em>), Chemours (with\u00a0Anneke van Veen<\/em>) and pesticides in lily cultivation (with\u00a0Marijn Kingma<\/em>) many local residents were present. Their personal stories made one thing clear: we can no longer afford to look away from all the flaws that are putting our living environment and health under pressure. The presence of members of the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) made this message even more powerful.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

During the symposium, participants provided input for a motion that will soon be submitted to politicians in The Hague.<\/span><\/p>\n
